“TFS Theseus” is Draft-Complete!

As of today, "TFS Theseus - The Terran Fleet Command Saga, Book 2" is officially "draft-complete!"  My minimum word count target this go around was 75,000, but the draft manuscript ended up at 82,536 words.  I have TONS of editing work to do over the next several weeks, but it's always very satisfying to reach this point.  More updates coming soon!

I absolutely loved this book! I was looking for a good story to read and I almost passed this one by. I am so glad I didn’t. I love it when the scientific breakthroughs are written like this. Who says you have to crawl before you walk! Nice job editing too. I only noticed one or two errors and that is becoming very rare these days. I look forward to more of the same.

Thank you very much, Jeffrey. I haven’t mentioned it in a while, but I’m always happy to correct any errors that readers find. Just e-mail me at tori@authortoriharris.com, and I’ll take care of them immediately. Also, if you end up reading “TFS Theseus” shortly after its release, please keep in mind that you most likely read version 1.3 of “TFS Ingenuity.” In spite of my (and my editor’s) best efforts, version 1.0 still had a fair number of errors, and I suspect that will be the case for book 2 as well.

Thanks, Richard! I’m sure that will happen … and I’d like to think I’ll keep getting faster, the more I write. So far, however, I think I’ll be hard pressed to put out more than two or three per year.

Hi Tori. I’m nearing the end of Ingenuity and just realized the book 2 wasn’t out yet. Keep up the great story telling. Your book combined two of favourite genres into one great read. Thanks!

Hang in there, Andre, we’re getting close! I have to ask, though, what two genres are you referring to? Science fiction and techno-thriller? It’s surprisingly difficult to make sure a book ends up in all the right categories on Amazon.

What authors / books do you find have influenced you the most if any? I really enjoy the whole premise of this series thus far and it is refreshingly original. How far do you see yourself taking it?

Hi Travis. I’m a big fan of naval fiction, particularly Patrick O’Brian, and back when Tom Clancy was so popular, I always bought his books the first day they hit the bookstore. I’m not sure I can answer your second question just yet. The first book has most definitely exceeded my expectations, but we’ll have to see how the second and third one do. It’s a safe bet that the “saga” will be at least three books. After that, I might consider starting a different story line in the same universe … or even trying something completely different. I’m also planning to offer some supplemental back-story material for my newsletter subscribers at some point. If the books continue to do well, I’m certain I’ll keep writing them. They’re a ton of work, but a lot of fun too.

Thanks, Jon! I had almost forgotten how daunting a task it is to start over at the beginning with editing. You get to feel excited about finishing the draft for about a day, then you realize how much work still remains. It definitely helps keep you motivated to know that people are anxious to read it, though!

Thanks, Travis! Ingenuity actually got a little longer during the editing process, so it will be interesting to see if Theseus does as well. It’s already about 25% longer than book 1.

Wonderful! I anxiously look forward to the next in this series. I’ve been checking all of your pages weekly since finishing ingenuity. Good luck with the editing! Can’t wait to read what you have.
